The Soul

The SoulThis is not a dissertation on James Brown and soul music. FYI soul music got its name from a number of artists, mostly in the Fifties, who felt that the combination of Negro spirituals, rhythm and blues and a bit of jazz, “Spoke to their Soul” and Soul music was born. The soul knows our dreams. The soul knows why we were brought into the world. The soul does its’ very best considering it has to deal with the ego. The ego is the part of us that notices that our heart beats, or that we take a deep breath, or that we have spaghetti for dinner. Does our soul care if we have spaghetti for dinner? Probably it enjoys it because the body does, but will the world end if we don’t get it? No…pizza on the other hand, yes, the world would end. We all have a soul and sometimes our ego convinces us that our actions won’t hurt…

What’s Heaven like? (Part 2)

Heaven (part 2)So what's Heaven like and why would we ever want to leave it to incarnate...or reincarnate for that matter? Having no concept of Heaven, from a standpoint of leaving it to come to the Earth-plane... I mean, I've been in Heaven, but I don't remember it. My guess is, there was a memory block put in place to keep us from remembering what a great place it is. If we knew ahead of time what awaited us upon our arrival in Heaven, then the first time things got really difficult for us, we'd bail because we knew how great Heaven was. This would defeat the purpose of our "Earth school" experience, which we so badly wanted before we made the trip "down the tunnel". If we knew all about the mysteries of life, where would all the wonderment we can experience have any meaning? As far as I know right now, the only way of remembering Heaven is through…

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify...What would happen if you were to wake up in the morning to find that the power grid had gone down sometime during the night? After you found a battery operated radio, you’d also find out that the local AM or FM radio station is broadcasting by battery power and informs you that the whole country is affected and they don’t know the extent of time it will be down. Would you freak out or would you REALLY freak out? Think about your answer for a sec. If you didn’t have internet access, or your smartphone, or your Keurig, what would you feel like? If you’re like me, you’d think that the power’s never off for very long…it’ll be back on in a day or two. And besides, this is the United States. We’re the most industrialized nation on the planet. I can handle living without my “stuff” for a while. Yep, I’d be thinking that, just as I…

FaithWhat's another word for faith? Is it trust? Is it belief? Is it a knowing of something? Is knowing that the sun will rise everyday also faith in the sun rising? Deep thought here: Does a rooster believe that the sun rises because he crows? Answer: We'll never know because roosters are really, really stupid and couldn't tell us anyways. Another question...What keeps our heart beating, our lungs inflating, our food digesting and our cells dividing? Is it faith? What separates us from the rooster crowing to bring up the sun? Bring out the duct tape for your heads here...Ready? Not much separates us from the rooster, as far as reality. We can't control that our heart beats, or that we breathe, but we CAN notice those things. A rooster notices that when he crows long enough, the sun rises. He guesses he'd better crow or else the sun won't come up. Does he know the consequences of not crowing? No,…
