The Soul
This is not a dissertation on James Brown and soul music. FYI soul music got its name from a number of artists, mostly in the Fifties, who felt that the combination of Negro spirituals, rhythm and blues and a bit of jazz, “Spoke to their Soul” and Soul music was born. The soul knows our dreams. The soul knows why we were brought into the world. The soul does its’ very best considering it has to deal with the ego. The ego is the part of us that notices that our heart beats, or that we take a deep breath, or that we have spaghetti for dinner. Does our soul care if we have spaghetti for dinner? Probably it enjoys it because the body does, but will the world end if we don’t get it? No…pizza on the other hand, yes, the world would end. We all have a soul and sometimes our ego convinces us that our actions won’t hurt anybody, when in reality, the ripple effect may be immeasurable. We all need to follow the “soul’s compass” and not the ego’s compass, to determine the direction we need to go, and by doing just that, we’ll avoid some bad karma. Does that mean no grilled cheese sandwiches (or pizza), in favor of a pot roast, potatoes and corn? I think not!! That’s not a karma decision anyways. A karma decision is a decision that affects others more than ourselves. Now, how does karma factor into our soul’s mission? In this life, it doesn’t. When our soul and our ego become aware of why we were put on this earth, for this lifetime, there’s a lot of reason to celebrate. This is called our DHARMA. Synchronicities will be commonplace and your enthusiasm for your new-found mission will be contagious. Some will be jealous of you, or if they truly love you, they’ll support you. You can be a great example of a soul who inspires other souls to remember their mission in life! Dharma is good, karma is meant to be good and not bad. Good karma means a happy afterlife, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll not have to have another go-around at this earth/hell experience. Sounds like a pretty good concept, huh?
So, here’s a question for you. Did you ever wonder how, if all of the population increases every day, where do all those souls come from? Or here’s a thought that just popped into my head…if I die before my wife Deb, and I decide to reincarnate before she passes, won’t she miss seeing me in Heaven?
Answer possibility #1. This may be a bit complicated, but perhaps we have a soul and a spirit. Hear me out. My soul remains in Heaven, but my soul wants to experience life on the Earth plane and does so through the spirit of Jerry, the Christmas freak. The spirit of Jerry remains attached to Jerry’s soul via the “Silver Cord” that some of you may have heard of. That silver cord is what attaches the soul to the spirit/body. All of the experiences that Jerry has had on this Earth plane, Jerry’s soul also experiences back in Heaven. My soul and my spirit agreed that I was to incarnate as a man, with great parents that would provide me with a fun and safe childhood, and who would grow up to love Christmas and snow. Spirit of Jerry experiences Christmas and snow and so does Jerry’s soul.God is Source and has many Source souls, which in turn have many (infinite) opportunities to experience life in the the of spirit of spirits like Jerry. Spirit is what you are that makes your heart beat, take breaths, makes your body eliminate waste, and think great things.
You are:
A body.
A spirit that gives your body life.
An ego, which is what everybody sees.
Your ego is your character and is the “I” in the saying “I said to myself.” Ego can also get in the way of spiritual things if the ego wants. It’s often been said that the only way to become a true spiritual being is to get the ego out of the way. Sometimes it’s hard to tell where the ego stops and the spirit begins. When we die, the silver cord is severed and our spirit which is actually a part of that silver cord, leaves our body and returns to our soul in Heaven. Once reunited with our soul, we retain our spiritual identity within the soul. This is so others that we’ve incarnated with in our prior spirit life, can recognize us. This would include family, spouses, children, friends, etc., whether they passed before us or after. (We’ll recognize them as the spirits of their souls.) Remember, there’s no concept of time in Heaven. Our spouse could pass 30 years after us, but in Heaven, it’s a blink of an eye.
Soul answer possibility #2:
There are infinite souls in Heaven and we meet with “The Elders” to decide what we want to experience in our future incarnation, for example, who we want to join us on our “journey”. And since there is no concept of time in Heaven, our parents agree to be our parents before they incarnate, then meet, then marry, (maybe), then talk to the stork, then become our parents. Anyways, all that time in Heaven, no time has passed. Time passes on the Earth plane and we may or may not do everything we came here to do and when the time comes that our journey is over, we cross over to Heaven and meet up with everyone and have a big party. The party is because a lifetime may be just 80 years on Earth, but in Heaven, only a few minutes may have passed. Even if you crossed over before your parents, you wouldn’t have any reference of time before you’re reunited again and start taliking about doing it over. Now, given the way things are on the Earth plane right now, I would hope my spirit guides and spirit family would try and talk me out of “heading down the tunnel” again. I’d have to be crazy to try another incarnation!
